Decentralized Culture Directorate of Arequipa

History

By Municipal Resolution No. 1322 of July 11, 1971 is the first precedent of the Regional Culture Directorate of Arequipa ( Arequipa DRC ), with the creation in the town of the Municipal House of Culture  which is in charge of the patronage of Culture . Since 1966, it is called Department House of Culture of Arequipa, constituting an integral state entity of the House of Culture of Peru .

By Law No. 19268,  on January 11, 1972 the National Institute of Culture is created as a decentralized agency of the Education Sector, an organization that assumes the functions, resources , archives and property of the House of Culture of Peru , as well as Departmental Houses of Culture .

In this way the Departmental House of Culture of Arequipa becomes to be named the National Institute of Culture - Filial Arequipa , with its new headquarters in the Cloisters of the Company, then located in its current premises in the Alameda San Lazaro. In 2010, the INC transfers its functions to the Ministry of Culture of Peru .

Decentralized Culture Directorate of Arequipa

It is responsible for the protection and conservation of cultural heritage and property registry and inventory our architectural heritage. Submit the declaration of civil landmarks , domestic, industrial, public and religious architecture. 

The Department promotes awareness and public awareness value and care for all expressions recognized as cultural heritage. It also develops restoration projects and standards protection ; encourages citizen participation in the care and identification of cultural property. 

Rate intervention records the monumental areas of the region. Performs supervision and monitoring of the historic center of Arequipa. The Department also conducts inspections, supervisions and assessments of architectural heritage.

Department of Archaeological Monuments

Archaeological Monuments Department is responsible for the identification, registration and protection of archaeological heritage property and furniture, as well as their preservation and conservation. In addition, the following functions :

1. Administrative : make reports, issue Certificates of Absence of Archaeological Remains ( CIRA) , supervision of research, assessment , rescue and monitoring plans .

2. Expert : Requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office and PNP to marketers when seizures are made of archaeological heritage .

3. Preventive : Before invasions archaeological sites. For this reason is presented an criminal complaint to the crime prevent office, police department, Ombudsman bureau.

4. Education and Wealth Management : awareness talks in the schools, municipalities, mothers club , creating crime prevention campaigns against the heritage and conservation thereof.

5. Museology and Conservation: The provincial councils asking for support in carrying out the museum script and conservation of archaeological specimens.

6. Legal : Submit complaints and appear before the authorities and prosecutors, prosecution , police , customs offices for the defense and protection of cultural heritage.

7. Official : Making limitations of archaeological sites, technical specifications, descriptive reports for the declaration of cultural heritage.

8. Representative : Attend meetings with the Municipality , Regional Government , Board Members , etc. 

9. Support: students of institutes, lectures, conferences, etc. jurors be qualifiers .

Department of Cultural Activities

The Department of Cultural Activities of the Regional Directorate of Culture of Arequipa, is the responsible body  for implementing the dissemination, promotion and development of cultural artistic activities. This department is responsible for coordinating the concerts of the Symphony Orchestra of Arequipa, artistic cast of this Region. In the same vein, this area is responsible for granting the rating to the non-sporting public cultural performances, according to regulations.

 

Register Computerized  Area of Movable Cultural Property

 

The ​​Personal registered area of movable assets, is responsible for recording and inventory personal assets of all Arequipa region, private and public collections, registering assets with Category of historical - artistic, ethnographic, archaeological, and paleontological industry. Promotes and disseminates the Movable Cultural Heritage.
